Surakarta, December 11, 2025 – Twelve lecturers from the Geography Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), Sebelas Maret University (UNS) participated in the 2025 Annual Scientific Meeting (PIT) of the Indonesian Geographical Association (IGI). This prestigious event was held by Jember University, East Java, on October 15-16, 2025, with the theme “Global Geoparks for Sustainable Futures: Integrating Geoheritage, Innovation, and Community Empowerment.” The event aimed to be a space for collaboration between academics, practitioners, and policy makers in supporting sustainable geopark management. PIT IGI is an annual agenda of the Indonesian Geographers Association as a meeting place for academics, researchers, and practitioners in the field of geography from various institutions. This activity not only strengthens scientific networks but also serves as an important forum for developing research and service collaborations. The active participation of UNS Geography Education lecturers demonstrates their commitment to the development of geography and their tangible contribution to sustainable development issues. The series of activities in PIT IGI XXVII and IGGIS 2025 include national seminars and international conferences, parallel sessions in the field of geography, and scientific field trips to the Ijen Geopark area. This field exploration includes visits to Plalangan Black Lava, Wurung Crater, Kalipait, and Ijen Crater, which will directly show the relationship between geology, ecology, culture, and community empowerment. Activity Objectives: The active participation of UNS lecturers in PIT IGI 2025 is very important. In addition to disseminating research results and innovative ideas, this activity also serves as a forum for lecturer professional development, broadening their horizons, and building strong networks with other geographers throughout Indonesia. This aligns with our efforts to continuously improve the quality of education and research in the program. With the participation of 12 lecturers in PIT IGI 2025, the UNS Geography Education Program reaffirms its position as one of the active and contributory geography education institutions in the development of science and solutions for sustainable development in Indonesia.
