The Bachelor Geography Study Program was previously the Geography Department of Sebelas Maret University (UNS). Since the merger of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education into one faculty, the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education was established after the Decree of the President of the Republic of Indonesia Number 5 of 1976 and began accepting students in 1976. Then the Department of Social Science Education was born after the issuance of the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Number 0555 /O/ 1983 dated December 8, 1983, concerning the determination of the type and number of departments in each faculty within UNS. After that, the Geography Department underwent a change in status and name to the Geography Education Undergraduate Education Study Program within the PIPS Department based on the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education Number 39/DIKTI/Kep/1984 dated December 28, 1984. In addition, it was strengthened by the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education Number 222/DIKTI/Kep/1996 dated July 11, 1966 concerning the Determination of 16 Study Programs in FKIP UNS. Then there was a change in the Organization and Administration of UNS based on the Minister of Education and Culture Regulation Number 84 of 2014 to eliminate the department. On this basis, the Bachelor Geography Education Study Program is no longer part of the Social Department but is directly under the management of the UNS Faculty of Teacher Training and Education until now. The Bachelor Geography Education Study Program obtained “A” accreditation based on BAN-PT Decree No. 668/SK/BAN-PT/Akred/S/IV/2019 which is valid from April 9, 2019 to April 2024. Based on UNS Order Number 751/UN27/KP/KP.15/2024 Geography Education is led by Dr. Pipit Wijayanti, S.Si., M.Sc. as Acting Head of the study program. Head of study program.
