
Surakarta, February 10, 2025 – The Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) of Sebelas Maret University (UNS) held a General Lecture with the theme “Study of Ecotourism Based on Local Wisdom and Development of Learning Evaluation in Geography” on Monday, February 10, 2025, at the FKIP UNS Building F Hall. The event was attended by students from the 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024 cohorts, and was open to the public, making it a useful forum for the exchange of knowledge for all parties.
The event was attended by UNS Geography Education lecturers, as well as Prof. Slamet Subiyantoro, M.Si., who opened the event with a warm welcome and conveyed to the audience the importance of this general lecture.
The keynote speakers at the event were two leading academics in their fields, namely Prof. Dr. Enok Maryani, M.S., who specializes in tourism geography, and Prof. Dr. Mamat Ruhimat, M.Pd., who is an expert in the field of geography education. Both speakers presented material rich in insight and experience, discussing the importance of developing ecotourism based on local wisdom and how this can be applied in learning evaluation.
Prof. Dr. Enok Maryani gave a presentation that provided an overview of the potential for ecotourism in Indonesia and how local wisdom is key to the development of sustainable tourism. She emphasized that preserving local culture and the environment is very important in creating tourist destinations that are not only attractive but also environmentally friendly.
Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Mamat Ruhimat, M.Pd. gave an in-depth presentation on the development of learning evaluation in geography, explaining that good evaluation methods will improve the quality of education and students’ understanding of their environment and culture. A lively discussion ensued between the students and the speakers, adding to the dynamics of the event and actively engaging the audience.
The event concluded with a highly interactive question and answer session, where students and other participants had the opportunity to ask questions directly to the speakers. This discussion not only provided insight but also opened up opportunities for future cooperation and collaboration between students and academics.
With the completion of this General Lecture, it is hoped that students will be able to apply the knowledge they have gained in their personal development and contribute to the advancement of geography studies in Indonesia.
