STUDY PROGRAM PROFILE
The Geography Education Study Program is a leading program in producing professional Geography teachers, as well as serving as a center for the development and service of spatial data and learning media at the national, regional, and international levels.
Findings related to cartographic skills have been central to the evolution of geography with the development and integration of GIS. Skills in map making, interpretation, and analysis, both inside and outside of GIS, are crucial, as their ability to negotiate and evaluate the ‘reliability’ of various forms of spatial data defines them as geographers rather than GIS technicians. This finding forms the basis for the Geospatial Information Analyst Graduate Profile.
Findings related to spatial thinking and global perspectives are in line with the uniqueness of geography, which lies in the geographical imagination. This involves the range of spatial experiences they bring to understanding the world, but also their inherent ability to comprehend the world in a spatial way.
