Surakarta, February 24, 2025 – The Geography Education Student Association of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) at Sebelas Maret University (UNS) held a Seminar and Workshop (SEMILOKA) with the theme “Opportunities for Digital Literacy in Education Career Trends to Face the Challenges of the 5.0 Era” on Monday, February 24, 2025, at 8:00 a.m. Western Indonesian Time in the Hall of Building F FKIP UNS. The event was attended by students from the 2022, 2023, and 2024 batches and was open to the public as a forum for discussion and exchange of knowledge that was beneficial to all parties. The event was attended by UNS Geography Education lecturers, as well as Prof. Dr. Slamet Subiyantoro, M.Si., Deputy Dean for Student Affairs and Alumni at FKIP UNS, who also opened the Seminar and Workshop (SEMILOKA).

In this SEMILOKA, HIMAGO invited Mrs. Jovita Ridhani, S. Pd., M. Ed., who is a lecturer in Educational Technology at UNS, and Ms. Nadia Wardah Mumtazah, S. Pd., M. Pd., as an Educational Influencer. Both guests were invited to speak at the seminar.
Ms. Jovita Ridhani, S. Pd., M. Ed., gave a presentation that provided an overview of how to utilize educational literacy to support an educational career. She revealed that the development of the education industry in Indonesia after COVID-19 has increased rapidly because there are consumers. Therefore, jobs or professions are not only limited to being a teacher or educational staff, for example, start-ups or remote working.
Meanwhile, Ms. Nadia Wardah Mumtazah, S.Pd., M.Pd., explained how to utilize digital literacy to become an accomplished educator. She emphasized that when using media, we must be selective about what we see on social media, choose positive activities to engage in, and share even the smallest experiences we have gained, such as actively creating educational content to help with self-development.
The event concluded with a highly interactive question-and-answer session, where students and other participants had the opportunity to ask questions directly to the speakers. This seminar not only provided an overview of the utilization of digital literacy but also offered insights into the use of technology, such as social media, for the future development of students.
With the SEMILOKA taking place, it is hoped that students can apply the knowledge gained in their personal development and achieve success for the advancement of Indonesia.
