Surakarta, December 11, 2025 – Students from the 2023 Geography Education class at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) of Sebelas Maret University (UNS) successfully conducted their second Field Study Program (KKL) from November 24 to 28, 2025. This activity is an integral part of the Geography Education Study Program curriculum, aimed at deepening students’ understanding of geography through hands-on fieldwork in Lasem, Rembang Regency, Central Java. KKL II was designed to provide a comprehensive learning experience, where students not only mastered theory in the classroom but were also able to observe and understand various natural and social phenomena firsthand. The field activity began with the preparation of research proposals, followed by direct research, and concluded with the compilation of analysis reports and data visualization.
Series of Field Study Activities II:
- Day One (November 24, 2025): Initial Visit and Opening On the first day of departure to Rembang, the group of students made an important visit to the Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda) of Rembang. This visit aimed to gather preliminary information and data related to the potential and geographical issues in the Lasem area, as well as to gain an in-depth understanding of development plans and the local government’s perspective before commencing field research.
- Day Two and Three (November 25-27, 2025): Intensive Field Research. For three full days, students were divided into small groups to conduct field research at various locations in Lasem according to predetermined research themes. They applied various data collection methods such as observation, interviews with local communities, and direct measurements. The research focused on various aspects of geography, ranging from physical conditions, socio-cultural aspects, and the local economy to disaster potential and mitigation efforts.
- Day Four (November 28, 2025): Presentation and Closing. The activity ended with a presentation session of the research results from each group. Students presented their findings, analysis, and conclusions from the research they had conducted. This session serves as an interactive discussion with the supervising lecturers to obtain constructive feedback. After that, the closing ceremony of KKL II is held, and the group departs back to Surakarta

The main objectives of KKL II are:
- To observe various geosphere phenomena directly in the field and match the phenomena encountered with the theories learned in class.
- To take measurements based on the physical and social conditions of the region using specific parameters.
- To create research instruments using interview and observation methods.
- Processing, analyzing, and visualizing research data.
- Compiling activity reports as a form of scientific accountability.

A total of 78 fifth-semester students from the 2023 cohort of the Geography Education Study Program at FKIP UNS participated in this activity. The entire process was guided and supervised by experienced lecturers in their respective fields, including Dr. Moh. Gamal Rindarjono, S.Si., M.Si. and Bimo Bramantio, S.Pd., M.Sc., who provided constructive guidance and feedback.
Geography Education lecturer, Mr. Bimo Bramantio, S.Pd., M.Sc., stated, “The overall aim of this activity is to train students to think scientifically and apply the knowledge they have acquired in class to real-world practice. We hope that through this Field Work Lecture 2, students can gain skills and experience that can be applied in further studies and in the professional world, while also increasing their awareness of the importance of protecting and preserving the environment.”
Through KKL II, it is hoped that UNS Geography Education students can develop comprehensive thinking in their field of study, which will serve as important preparation for facing the increasingly complex challenges of the professional world.
